Case Study: Lu Xiaoli IP Paper-Carving Desk Calendar

The Lu Xiaoli (鹿小里) Year of the Dragon paper-carving desk calendar is a set of twelve hot-foil-stamped paper-carving calendar cards, supplied with a packaging gift box and a wooden base. It shows how an IP character can be turned into a desk gift that stays in use for a full year.

Project facts

IP	Lu Xiaoli (鹿小里)
Product	Year of the Dragon paper-carving desk calendar
Contents	12 paper-carving monthly calendar cards
Finish	Hot-foil stamping
Packaging	Gift box
Display	Wooden base

What the product combines

• Paper carving: each monthly card is a cut-paper scene featuring the IP.
• Hot-foil stamping: metallic detail that lifts the cards for gifting.
• Gift box: packaging designed to present the twelve cards and the base together.
• Wooden base: holds the current month upright on a desk.

Why this format works for IP owners

A calendar keeps a character visible every day for a year, and twelve cards give room for twelve scenes in one consistent style. The gift box and base make it suitable as a New Year present or a retail product. Other details of the project, such as quantities and dates, are not published here.

How a similar project runs

1. Brief with the character artwork, theme of the year and gifting date.
2. Card layout and paper-carving proof for each month.
3. Foil, box and base design.
4. Physical sample; sampling usually takes 5–7 days after proof approval.
5. Mass production, usually about 15–25 days after sample approval, then QC and shipping.
